Audio updates & additions
In this update for HELLBOUND i felt as if the game lacking audio was impacting how it felt to play massively, so as of now HELLBOUND has a ton of audio for both the player and enemies, a list of which sound effects are in the game as of now can be seen below:
As seen in this list the drone enemy now has a couple of sound effects! this includes three separate bullet sound effects that are chosen at random when the drone shoots for some variety and a drone explosion sound effect that plays alongside an animation when the player kills a drone enemy, these will hopefully give the drone enemy a bit more life.
Moving on from the drone the player has also been given many sound effects to make general gameplay a bit more engaging, the first of these are for the players gun, which will now play audio when the player shoots with left click, charges their right click and fires their right click, these are all coupled by a hit marker sound effect if a bullet hits an enemy. On top of all this the player also has some noise to their rage mode, this being a melee hit sound effect that plays when the player lands a melee hit on an enemy, as for the rest of the audio queues in the list shown, the player will make a constant grinding noise when sliding and when they land after being in the air, these sounds are very metallic to give the impression that the player is made of metal or wearing armour.
Finally the final two sound effects I have not covered are the spawn sound effect and the skull laugh sound effect, the first one plays when the player first spawns into any level or respawns after death, and the second one plays when the player dies and they are on the respawn screen, coupled by an animation of a skull, meant to mock the player after failing, this animation can be seen down below:
Of course this edition means that the game now has a working death state where the player can choose to either respawn and restart the level, return back to the start menu of the game or exit the game completely.
Note: Player Death can only be achieved by taking damage from an enemy, falling off the map will simply return the player to the start of the level (the level is not restarted, this is purely positional).
